You’d think there’d be wireless-a-plenty at the Online Information show in London. A spot in the corner of the Orchad café was all I could spot on the first day. Initial impressions are that the buzz in the hall is content management, and Microsoft are investing in their Sharepoint 2007 platform, the smarter, hipper sibling of the dinosaur that was Sharepoint 2003. A plethora of stands are selling value-add to Sharepoint, however the marketing in most is little more than regurgitated platitudes and phrases. Sure, VWI are here too, and we’re pitching rss management for enterprises. But when you’re an information manager hunting for ideas to help your business the last thing you need is a vague sales pitch. You want to know what you’re being offered, and specifically what it will do. In short, cut to the chase.
